Rushville, IL – Rushville aldermen are debating whether to issue a liquor license to the city's Scripps Park golf course.
Mayor Scott Thompson says the move could help the golf course support itself and free up funds in the city's general fund.
He says there will be opposition, but the city must find ways of supporting services and recreation without increasing property taxes.

Thompson believes alcohol is already being drunk on the golf course, but having a beer and wine license would provide revenue for course upkeep.
The city's recent levy of more than $300,000 included more money for Scripps Park.
