Carthage, IL – The Hancock County Dog Pound will be winterized with proceeds from a grant.
Anissa Sadeghi says her group, "West Hancock Animal Rescue," won the grant from the National Anti Vivisection Society. She's donating the money to upgrade the county's dog pound.
She says the main goal is to make things more comfortable for dogs in the shelter.
She says the $15,000 will go for a gas heater to warm the recently-added dog run and for doors to help block cold and wind.
The pound is also scheduled to receive items such as a power washer and new dog dishes.

The Hancock County Board will have to approve the donations and their use.
The rescue group transports dogs between different shelters in the Midwest to help increase chances of animals being adopted.
Sadeghi says much of the equipment should be purchased within two weeks.
