Macomb, IL – McDonough County will have to find a new auditing firm quickly.
Finance Committee Chairwoman Alice Henry says Clifton Gunderson has notified the county in a conference call that it would not continue as the county's auditor.
She says the firm said it does not have enough staff to do the job.
Henry says there was dissatisfaction among some board members with the work done by the firm.
During preparation of the county's budget for the coming year, income estimates from Clifton Gunderson were late, as was other information.
She says letters will go out at the end of this week to several auditing firms seeking proposals.
She hopes to begin evaluating the proposals within a couple of weeks.
The county spends more than $50,000 per year for auditing services.

Auditing for the county includes county board activities, the circuit clerk's office and one audit done for the federal government.
The new fiscal year begins Dec. 1.
Normally the audit for the previous fiscal year is sent to the county board in spring or summer.
Bb>Henry says the county's contract with Clifton Gunderson was renewable with mutual consent.
She says the firm has provided all of the information to the county that it was contractually obligated to.
