Macomb, IL – McDonough County adopted a budget of just over $16 million dollars for the fiscal year that begins Saturday.
Finance Committee Chairwoman Alice Henry says the new budget will spend about $200,000 thousand dollars than the current year's budget.
She says there are no major new programs, and spending will be less because of some grants that will not be received during the coming year.
She says the budget will continue paying back to the general fund some loans made from land fill fee income or the public safety sales tax.

Henry says auditors recommended that all funds have an end-of-year balance sufficient to cover three or four months of expenses.
The budget adopted for the coming year will give a more than two-month cushion to the general fund and up to four months for most others.
