Macomb, IL – A McDonough County sheriff's deputy will serve as the first lieutenant in the department's long history.
The promotion for Justin Lundgren takes effect December 1.
Lundgren says as a lieutenant, he will focus on drug enforcement operations. He says heroin is becoming more popular throughout the county and an emphasis will be placed on stopping the sale and use of the highly addictive narcotic.
Sheriff Rick Van Brooker says Lundgren earned the opportunity to serve as lieutenant. He says the promotion will allow for greater flexibility in work shifts for Lundgren, who will oversee night shift patrols.
