New Name, Same Mission

Oquawka, IL – The Henderson County Rural Health Center hopes to expand its service area, and as a result is changing its name. The not-for-profit agency will now be known as Eagle View Community Health System.

The organization is adding a pharmacy to its medical and dental clinic in Oquawka, which opened in 1979. It operates a similar facility in Stronghurst and will soon open a dental clinic in Macomb.

Executive Director Melinda Whiteman says Eagle View will eventually look to expand elsewhere too. She says "Like an eagle, we want to soar to areas that need us."

Whiteman also points out rising gasoline prices make it more difficult for low-income people to travel far for medical and dental treatment.

The agency unveiled its new name and logo during an event in Oquawka on December 6. The logo features the face of an eagle with the tagline "With an Eye on Your Health."
