Internet Provider Acquired by Rural Phone Co-Op

Colchester, IL – Beginning January 1, Infobahn Outfitters will be a wholly owned subsidiary of McDonough Telephone Cooperative.

The companies believe customers will feel a minimal impact. Customers' telephone numbers and e-mail addresses will not change. Both companies will retain their current names.

The deal extends the reach of both organizations, which served different parts of western Illinois.

The cooperative has 30 employees while Infobahn employs 15 people. McDonough Telephone Cooperative President Bill Buchanan does not anticipate any staffing changes while the organizations determine how they will work together.

Buchanan says "Infobahn is a strong, well-staffed company and our businesses are a perfect fit."

Buchanan declined to share the purchase price.
