Fort Madison, IA – The Lee County Board of Supervisors has set aside $250,000 in the county's proposed 08/09 budget for economic development.
Chairman George Morgan says that is on top of the $270,000 designated, as part of a previous funding agreement, for the Lee County Economic Development Group.
He says the Iowa Department of Economic Development is always ready to help when a major industry is interested in coming to or expanding in Lee County.
Morgan says the new $250,000 reserve fund will be available to smaller businesses or industries that, while not on the state's radar, are interested in bringing jobs to or keeping them in Lee County.
He says $100,000 will also be added to the last 4 1/2 months of the county's current spending plan.
