Carthage, IL – A museum in Carthage will soon double in size. Plans call for construction of a bridge building to connect the Kibbe Museum with the former city hall building next door.
City Kibbe Museum Board Vice President Jackie Adkins feels the expansion will provide a tremendous boost to the museum's long-term success. She feels it will allow the museum to tell the story of Hancock County a little more effectively than what can currently be done.
Ground could be broken mid-summer, with construction wrapping up this fall. A grand opening could be held in the spring of next year after displays are set up.
The museum still needs to raise about $25,000 for the project. The overall cost is an estimated $115,000.
