Stepp Hired As Keokuk Parks Director

Keokuk, IA – A lengthy hiring process is finally over in Keokuk.

The Keokuk City Council approved the appointment of former 6th Ward Alderman Gary Stepp as Bridge, Parks, and Cemetery Manager during last night's special meeting, which lasted roughly two-minutes.

The 6-2 vote follows weeks of heated debate and failed resolutions.

Stepp says he's glad the issue has been resolved.

He says he is ready to help Keokuk in his new job.

Stepp's first day on the job is Wednesday.

His starting salary is $38,500.

The Keokuk city council has roughly six weeks to fill Stepp's seat.

* Aldermen Doug Matlick, Scott Nichols, Mike Baum, Susan Dunek, Bill Olmsted, & Roger Bryant voted to appoint Stepp.
* Aldermen Justin Tuck and Mike O'Connor voted no.
