Clean Sweep Collection this Summer in Western Illinois

Macomb, IL – This summer, the Illinois Department of Agriculture will dispose of any unwanted agricultural pesticides for free in Western Illinois.

Spokeswoman Susan Barron says the Clean Sweep Collection serves as a way for area residents to get rid of products that are unwanted, unusable or cancelled. Barron says since the programs inception in 1990, over 425-thousand pounds of unwanted products have been safely disposed.

Barron says in order to participate, you must register by June 6th. You can do so by calling the Ag Departments pesticide hotline at 1-800-641-3934 or by picking up a form at a local Farm Bureau, University of Illinois Extension Office, or Soil and Water Conservation District Office.

Barron adds a centralized location for dropping off the products has not yet been determined.
