Galesburg, IL – Former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft faced some hostile questions during an appearance in Western Illinois. Ashcroft spoke at Knox College about a number of issues, including the challenges this generation faces, technology as a threat and salvation, and Nine-Eleven.
After Ashcroft's speech, there was a heated question and answer session. One student asked if he reconsidered what he did as Attorney General and wanted to know, Do you have a soul and do you sleep at night?
Others asked his thoughts on waterboarding and torture, why so much money was spent researching the September 11th attacks, and what is the top security priority of the U-S. One student apologized to Ashcroft for some of the actions of people in the crowd.
Ashcroft was brought to the school by the Knox Republicans and the Young Americans Foundation.
