SIREPA Board Looks To Extend Terms

Montrose, IA – The terms of the three members of the Southeast Iowa Regional Economic & Port Authority expired over the weekend.

That did not stop the panel from starting the process of extending its members' terms on the board.

The bylaws allow Vice Chairman Dave Gudgel, Secretary Steve Ireland, and George Morgan to serve on the Authority's Board of Directors until their replacements are named.

It could be a while, though, before that process is needed.

An effort to extend the terms of the initial board from 2 to 4 years and 4 to 6 years has come before the panel.

Ireland says there is too much going on for three current board members to step down.

Three directors have signed off on the term extension, though a fourth is needed before the bylaws can be changed.

That fourth vote must be cast during a public meeting.
