Tri States Region – The Mississippi River bridges at Burlington and Fort Madison are now closed because of the flooding. For now, the bridge at Keokuk remains open.
The Great River Bridge at Burlington was closed early Tuesday after a levee broke near Gulfport. About 7,500 acres in land in Illinois are in jeopardy because of that levee break.
Henderson County Deputy Sheriff Don Seitz says part of Highway 34 is closed because of water on the roadway. He says several people have been rescued from the rising waters, including one motorist who was pulled out by helicopter after becoming stranded on top of his car.
The BNSF Railway bridge at Ft Madison also closed Tuesday morning. Lee County Emergency Management Director Steve Cirinna says flood waters had crept onto the approach tracks on the Iowa side.

Galesburg has issued a voluntary water conservation order for residents until further notice. Public Works director Larry Cox says the order was issued because of concerns over flooding along the Mississippi River at Oquawka. He says there's a possibility the city will lose it capacity to pump water from it source at Oquawka, so residents are being asked to conserve.
