Macomb, IL – The McDonough County 4-H Fair and Junior Show gave members the opportunity to show off their projects, participate in activities, and even do a little bit of community service.
4-H members brought their projects and animals to compete for first place, best of show, or even a chance to go the State Fair. But, 4-H is about more than winning ribbons and placing at the top of the class. It's also about community service and learning by doing.
Throughout the year, clubs do different activities to give back to the community. This year, Gabrielle Torrance and other members of the Scotland Clever Clovers gave fair-goers the chance to help their neighbors from towns along the Mississippi.
The club brought fleece material and scissors so people could make tie-blankets. Throughout the week about 13 blankets were made to be given to the Red Cross for flood victims in Henderson and Hancock Counties.
