Macomb, IL – Simply put, a garden is a piece of ground used for growing. But gardens are much more complex than that. They come in all shapes and sizes and all types of things are grown.
For example, some people choose a sustainable garden. Those landscapes are considered easier on the local environment. A number of such gardens can be found in and around Macomb. Ten were opened to the public as part of the inaugural "Blues For Greens" tour.
The event was a fundraiser for WIU's Horn Field Campus. Program Coordinator Mindy Harpman says the money raised will help the site make strides to become more sustainable.
Harpman hopes "Blues For Greens" will become signature annual event for Horn Field Campus.
An outdoor concert capped off "Blues For Greens." It was held at the field campus and featured Patrick Hazell. He's a one-man, blues-powered music machine. He's also into sustainable gardening.
