Fort Madison, IA – The Iowa Department of Economic Development says its's success is based, not only on the happenings in larger communities, but also on what is going on in smaller towns.
Cities like Des Moines and Cedar Rapids are considered major players when it comes to economic development efforts throughout the state.
Smaller regions are starting to change that, especially Southeast Iowa, with new industries coming in and existing ones expanding.
Michael Gould is IDED's project manager for business development.
He says the state keeps a close eye on regions, like Southeast Iowa, to see what's working.
