Donnellson, IA – Iowa's agriculture industry appears to have held up well to this summer's flooding.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey says some farms were hit hard as fields were either covered in water or damaged by higher-than-usual rates of erosion.
He says for the most part, Iowa's corn and soybean fields are in pretty good shape.
In fact, Northey says Iowa is expected to once again lead the nation in corn and soybean production.
Iowa is projected to produce more than 2-billion bushels of corn and more than 400-million bushels of soybeans.
Northey, a farmer from Spirit Lake, says those figures could hinge on a late frost, with crops going in later than normal.
