Keokuk, IA – A former U-S Senator says early voting will play a crucial role in this year's presidential election.
Jean Carnahan of Missouri says the entire election system is under a great deal of pressure with more and more people expected to cast a ballot this November.
She says her state illustrates that with several hundred-thousand new voters and turn-out projected to top 80%.
Carnahan says that is why early voting opportunities in states such as Iowa are very beneficial to residents.
She says voting is an unnatural act so it should be made as convienent as possible.
Carnahan made her comments following a stop in Keokuk in which she spoke in support of Illinois Senator Barack Obama.
Her daughter, Robin Carnahan, oversees Missouri's elections in her role as Secretary of State.
