Hannibal, MO – The Missouri Department of Transportation is looking for public input on a proposed bypass around one of the largest cities in the northeast corner of the state.
Spokeswoman Marisa Brown says MoDot is encouraging residents to join the newly-formed Hannibal Expressway Citizens Advisory Committee.
She says the panel, which meets for the first time October 27, will serve as a sounding board for the department.
Brown says the first meeting will be used to describe upcoming engineering work and talk about the challenges associated with such a project.
She says the biggest could be a lack of funding as $40,000,000 could be needed.
Brown says MoDot wants to make sure it has design and engineering work completed so it can move forward when the money is available.
MoDOT will hold the first meeting on Monday, October 27 from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Arch United Methodist Church, 56017 Ocean Wave Lane, just south of Hannibal on U.S. 61.
