American Red Cross' National Disaster Relief Fund Low

Macomb, IL – This year's natural disasters have left the American Red Cross' National Disaster Relief Fund severely low, so chapters across the U.S. are working to replenish it.

The chapters are conducting a massive fundraising campaign. It's called "Disasters Change Lives. You Can Too." Lisa Kugler of this region's chapter says canisters will be located at various places on November 25th as part of a one-day push in Illinois.

Kugler says the regional goal is $103,000. Kugler hopes at least that much can be raised on the 25th. The state goal is more than $3.7 million. The national campaign continues through the end of the year. Its goal is $100-million.

A list of canister locations will be posted on the Red Cross web site at www.tristate-redcross.org.

Additional Information:

*The American Red Cross provided more than $184,000 in Disaster Relief funding in the area during this summer's flooding.
