Keokuk, IA – The Lee and Clark County chapters of the American Red Cross are joining chapters from throughout Illinois in the Day of Giving for the National Disaster Relief Fund.
Lee County Executive Director Karole Smith says there are more than two dozen drop-off sites for donations in the two counties.
She says this area saw, first hand this summer, how the American Red Cross responds to disasters. "I think there was $184,000 worth of relief that was spent here by the national for these areas... so we have been a major part of this."
Smith says the idea behind the one-day campaign is to reach out to people who may not regularly contribute to the American Red Cross.
