January, 2009 – A look back at the top stories and features from the Tri States Public Radio news department from January 2009. The biggest story was the historic impeachment of Rod Blagojevich, who was removed from office as Governor of Illinois. He was replaced by Pat Quinn.
Other stories include the annual MLK Day march through the streets of Macomb, followed the next day by the inauguration of Barack Obama to be the first African-American president in US history. Also in January, Macomb lost some jobs and then gained some back, and Lee County's sheriff was suspended by the State of Iowa.
