Macomb, IL – 15 people came to the planning commission meeting at Macomb City Hall. But the meeting had to be cancelled.
Community Development Coordinator Ed Basch was pleased with the turnout. But, there was one minor problem. The committee did not have a quorum. Only 6 members of the committee showed up to the meeting and 7 are needed to legally conduct any business.
"We have to have the majority of the membership here in order to conduct a legal meeting," says Basch. "We expected to have 7. We do call ahead to verify that we will have enough. But one person that we expected to show up didn't for some reason."
"It's good to see people interested and hear from them," Basch says. "It's just a shame that we couldn't do anything. We will re-notify all of the owners within the district and everybody within 250 feet. We will also have to republish, in the newspaper, the entire legal ad."
The meeting was about establishing the Adams Street Mixed Use District, rezoning 88 parcels of land, and changing some parking requirements in the district.
The next planning commission meeting is set for Wednesday, August 19.
