Burlington Fundraising Continues Beyond Goal

Burlington, IA – Burlington hopes it will soon reap the benefits of an on-going fund-raising campaign.

The Partnering for the Future Campaign got underway last summer. The fund-raising goal was $1.5-million dollars.

Dennis Hinkle with the Greater Burlington Partnership says that hurdle was met in September. He says the campaign will continue, though, because the stretch goal is $1.8-million and there are still some entities looking to contribute.

Hinkle says reaching the fund-raising goal in roughly one year is impressive, given the economic climate facing Southeast Iowa.

The money will be used to create jobs, secure capital investment, add downtown residential and business units, and increase tourism. Hinkle says organizations are already working towards those goals.

He says economic developers, through his office, continue to travel the country and the world seeking potential businesses and industries. He says options are also being explored for proposed downtown developments.

More than 75 companies, organizations, and individuals pledged to the campaign.
