Western Illinois – Rich Egger talks to representatives from three of western Illinois' art centers about events coming up during the first part of the year.

The first guest is Susan Twomey of the Buchanan Center for the Arts in Monmouth. The exhibit "Six Women, Six Words, Six Works" closes Saturday, January 15. The final day will include a gallery talk by several of the exhibit's artists at 10:00am.

After that, the Buchanan Center will show the photography by Michael Godsil. The exhibit begins Friday, February 4 with an opening reception from 5:00pm - 7:00pm.

The second guest is Heather Norman of the Galesburg Civic Art Center. January is Kid's Month at the center. Works created by children will be in display from January 21 - Jaunary 28, with a closing reception on January 28 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm.

The next exhibit at the Galesburg Civic Art Center will feature drawings by Jitrenda Baoni of India and paintings and prints by Jessica Gondek of Montgomery (IL). It opens Friday, February 4.

The final guest is Nancy Crossman of the West Central Illinois Arts Center in Macomb. The center's first exhibit will be a student art show. High school students will display work from February 18 - February 26, middle school students from March 4 - March 12, and elementary school students from March 18 - April 2. At least three school districts will be represented.

The WCIAC's second exhibit will feature art made from recycled and repurposed materials. The April 6 opening reception will be held in conjunction with the annual Environmental Summit at Western Illinois University.
