Monmouth, IL – OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth will receive millions of grant dollars to help fund a major expansion.

Hospital CEO Patty Luker says the Community Health Foundation of Warren and Henderson Counties presented the facility with a $2.5 million grant, to be paid in several installments over the course of a few years.

The expansion will renovate the "F" wing of the hospital, which is the now-closed long term care unit, to add more space to the clinic. Luker says that will allow her to hire more health care providers.

"Presently we have eight providers in the clinic," says Luker. "The expansion will allow us to have room for up to 12 providers."

Luker says the hospital provides some services in that area of the hospital, but has remained largely unused since the long-term care unit closed in December 2009.

The entire renovation should cost a little more than $4 million. Luker says the hospital received its first installment worth $500,000 in December. Much of that will be used to generate planning and engineering documents, as well as other preliminary work.

Luker says the entire renovation should be finished within the next couple of years.
