Keokuk, IA – More than 20 men and women carried signs in front of the Holiday Inn Express at the corner of 4th and Main Streets.
They were there because Team Staffing Solutions out of Muscatine, IA was holding a job fair from 9:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.
Union President Steve Underwood says some of the available jobs were held by members of Local 48G before Roquette America locked them out six months ago.
Underwood says it is difficult for members to see this taking place.
Team Staffing Solutions had been running advertisements in the local newspaper about the job fair for weeks.
The ad simply said there were openings in Keokuk and that the pay is $13.50/hour plus overtime. It did not mention the potential employer.
Roquette America says it has been working with Team Staffing Solutions to find temporary workers.
Underwood says several people did cross the picket line and attend the job fair. He says others turned around as soon as he says they found out about the locked-out workers.
