Macomb, IL – The Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC) administers the Homebuyer Program in McDonough, Warren, Henderson and Hancock Counties.
Local administrator Jeff Cozadd said, "Many times the challenge those individuals have is coming up with a large amount of money for a down payment."
He said this program will pay up to $10,000 towards a down payment.
In addition, the program can pay up to $24,000 to bring a house into compliance with local building codes. Money is also available to help with closing costs.
The WIRC can help potential buyers find financing through local banks.
The public is invited to an informational meeting on the Homebuyer Program Thursday, May 26, at 6:00 p.m. at Macomb City Hall.
