The Tri States – Cooling centers are open in Macomb, Rushville, and Warsaw to help residents escape the torrid temperatures. The National Weather Service said an excessive heat warning will continue until 9:00pm Thursday.
Macomb
The Community Room on the first floor of City Hall, 232 E. Jackson Street, will be available as a cooling center through Friday, July 22. It will be open each day from 5:00pm to 10:00pm.
WIU's University Union Prairie Lounge will serve as a cooling center through Saturday, July 23. The Union is open from 7:00am to 10:00pm Monday through Friday, and 8:00am to 10:00pm on Saturday.
The McDonough County Red Cross, 1224 Maple Avenue, will be open as a cooling center from 7:30am to 5:00pm through Friday.
The Salvation Army, 505 N. Randolph St., will serve as a cooling center from 9:00am to Noon and 1:00pm to 4:00pm through Friday.
Rushville
The rear of City Hall will be open as a cooling center from 9:00am to 6:00pm through at least Friday. Those who need a ride can call City Hall or the Police Department.
Warsaw
The Bott Community Center, 705 LaFayette St, will serve as a cooling center while the extreme heat continues. It is open from 6:30am to 9:00pm. For more information, contact Warsaw City Hall at 217-256-3214.
