Colchester, IL – A man wanted for killing a teenage girl in central Illinois was arrested in McDonough County Tuesday night.
37-year old Dennis Davis of Macomb was taken into custody at Yetter Manufacturing in Colchester. He had been hired there as a temp worker. The sheriff's department said management at the company was unaware of the warrant for Davis' arrest and cooperated with authorities in the investigation.
Davis is charged with first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and unlawful use of weapons by a felon.
He is accused in the death of 17-year old Mishyra Wheeler. She and three other people were shot while they sat on the front porch of a home in Decatur on September 3.
The others survived the attack.
Davis had been released from the McDonough County Jail the day before. He had been held there since July 10 after Illinois State Police had arrested him for possession of cannabis, driving under the influence, and driving with a revoked license.
