The Keokuk City Council could contribute to a regional housing program.

Community Development Director Pam Broomhall says the city's previous $5,000 contribution has resulted in about $120,000 in local improvements.

Nine homeowners have already been helped through the Great River Housing Trust Fund with three applications pending approval.

The city council has pledged another $5,000 this year.

Montrose, IA

Lee County has new supervisor districts.

A community panel helped design the new map.

It reduced about 400 people from each of the five districts due to a decline in population.

The only significant changes required the shifting of several blocks in Fort Madison from District 2 to District 3 and in Keokuk from District 5 to District 4.

The state must sign off on the new map before it takes effect in January.

Keokuk, IA

Keokuk residents will have the entire month of October to do some "spring" cleaning.

The city will offer two free landfill vouchers per household.

The vouchers can be picked up at City Hall.

Meanwhile, a recycling event will be held on October 8.

Some of the acceptable items include appliances, televisions, paper and glass.
