Election Results - Burlington Primary

Burlington, IA – Burlington holds a primary when five or more candidates file to run for city council.

This year, seven men and women turned in their nominating petitions, triggering the primary.

One dropped out just after the filing deadline passed, leaving the six who appeared on the October 11 ballot.

Becky Anderson led the way with just over 35% of the vote.

She was followed by Shane McCampbell (22%), Eric Renteria (17%), and Chuck Griffin (13%).

The four move on to the November 8 city election in the race for the two open seats on the panel.

The race is wide open after incumbents Bill Ell and Matt Murray chose not to seek re-election.
