The demolition of the two-story building at 1028 Main Street in downtown Keokuk is expected to resume on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
The project has been on hold for a couple of weeks.
The contractor out of Quincy, IL did not have all of the paperwork required to work in Iowa.
The demolition will cost the city $9,000 plus transportation and tipping fees.
Washington DC
Small businesses throughout southeast Iowa are now eligible for low-interest loans from the Small Business Administration.
The list of counties includes Lee, Des Moines, Henry, Louisa, and Van Buren.
The loans are available to offset losses suffered due to high winds, excessive rain and subsequent flooding from last spring.
The same region was designated an agricultural disaster area by the US Department of Agriculture.
Keokuk, IA
A Mississippi man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for trying to rob a Keokuk bank in August.
Aaron Yankovich, 37, drove his car into the entrance of KSB bank before walking inside and demanding money.
He was apprehended by a Lee County deputy as he left the building.
Yankovich must also pay associated fees and fines.
Burlington, IA
Residents can still help create a long-range visioning plan for Des Moines County.
The goal of the IMAGINE campaign is to develop 5 ideas for the future.
A committee narrowed the initial list of 1,800 ideas to 100. Residents are being asked to help trim that list to 30.
They have until Sunday, October 23 to select their personal top 5.
Completed ballots can be dropped off at local government buildings or libraries.
A ballot can also be filled out online.
