Roger Bryant - Candidate - Keokuk 6th Ward

http://stream.publicbroadcasting.net/production/mp3/wium/local-wium-991688.mp3

Keokuk, IA – Roger Bryant says he is ready to return to the Keokuk City Council, even though he would do so in a new capacity.

He served for more than a decade as 4th Ward Alderman.

Bryant and his wife moved to the 6th Ward, earlier this year, which meant he had to resign because he could not represent a ward he did not live in.

He says he enjoyed his time on the city council, so he decided to run in his new ward.

Bryant says he is willing to work hard to improve the city.

He says Keokuk is not moving in a good direction because of job loss and a declining population.

Bryant says Keokuk's street reconstruction program should continue. He says he would be willing to look at asphalt to improve more streets.

Bryant says that would require an oil truck, though, which can be expensive.

He says he also opposes the idea of allowing alcohol in certain parks. He says parks in residential neighborhoods (Rand, Kilbourne, Kaiser) should remain alcohol-free to avoid potential lawsuits.
