MACOMB, IL – This weekend you'll have a chance to get rid of old computers, mp3 players and other e-waste without harming the environment.

The Tri-County Regional Collection Facility in Macomb will make sure those items are properly recycled.

TCRCF manager Chad Braatx said, "We're trying to bring attention to the upcoming ban on January 1st of home electronics in the waste stream and this is to give people an opportunity to get rid of some of that surplus or make room for new stuff."

He said the state will ban most electronic devices from landfills beginning January 1st.

He said Saturday's collection will be a drive-through. Students from the Macomb High School Ecology Club will unload vehicles.

The collection will be Saturday, November 5th, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the TCRCF at 510 North Pearl Street. The collection will be in the parking lot on the east side of North Pearl Street.
