SCC Men's Basketball Season Over

West Burlington, IA – Ten members of the SCC men's basketball team have been dismissed for violating college and athletic department policy concerning student conduct.

Marshaun Maull, Jordan Aaron, Nicos Norris, Davon Morton, Deonte Houston, Fahro Alihodzic, D'Lando Carter, Mike Hemsley, Elhadji Seck, and Ron Patten Jr. also lost their scholarships.

The college issued a statement Thursday evening.

It says SCC cannot disclose the facts in the cases due to laws regarding confidentiality and student privacy.

"I'm very disappointed in the actions of these young men," said Head Coach Terry Carroll in the statement, adding "they each violated the SCC Athletic Code of Conduct. Sadly, these have been good kids who made some incredibly irresponsible and poor choices."

Two more players, Keenan and Keanu McGhee, will not return for the spring semester due to academic ineligibility.

SCC says, with the roster of 14 reduced to two, the team will forfeit its final 12 games of the 2011/2012 season.

The college says current season ticket holders may request a pro-rated refund for the remaining eight home games.

It's unclear whether the ten dismissed student-athletes are still enrolled at SCC or whether they can join other basketball teams as calls to the college were not returned.
