Bushnell Family Snared in Meth Bust

The McDonough County Sheriff’s Department said members of a Bushnell family face numerous methamphetamine-related charges after a search warrant was executed at their home early Sunday.

Those arrested at the house at 793 North Sperry Street are Virgil Raines, age 50; Brenda Raines, age 50; and Travis Raines, age 22.

The sheriff’s department said three others were arrested in Macomb: Daniel Raines, age 24; Timothy Raines, age 23; and Tiffany Raines, age 21.

In addition, Serena Park, age 32, was arrested in Industry, and Ambria Jones, age 22, was arrested at the McDonough County Sheriff’s office.

The department said it seized an operating meth lab, seven “shake and bake” meth labs, stripped lithium batteries, sulfuric acid, ammonia nitrate, lye, packaging materials, digital scales with what is believed to be meth residue, empty packages of pseudoephedrine, 25 grams of marijuana, paraphernalia, and $800 cash.

Sheriff Rick VanBrooker said the arrests were the result of a roughly three month investigation that included his office, the Bushnell Police Department, and the Macomb Police Department.

Also involved were the Colchester and Blandinsville Police Departments and Illinois State Police.
