Four seats are up for election on the Galesburg city council this year, and all four incumbents face challengers.
Some of those candidates discussed issues at a forum hosted by NAACP Galesburg, Galesburg PFLAG and United Against Hate at the Galesburg Public Library.

The forum was moderated by Duane Oldfield, chair of the political science department at Knox College.
The following candidates participated:
- Steve “Champ” Coleman, Ward One challenger.
- Kevin Wallace, Ward Three incumbent.
- Jaclyn Smith-Esters, Ward Five incumbent.
- Larry Cox, Ward Seven incumbent.
Steve Cheesman, Ward Seven challenger.
The following candidates did not attend:
- Bradley Hix, Ward One challenger.
- Thomas Roberts, Ward Three challenger.
- Evan Miller, Ward Three challenger.
- Heather Ziegler Acerra, Ward Five Challenger.
The same groups will host a forum for school board candidates at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 on the second floor of the Galesburg Public Library.
