Second arrest made in fatal Macomb shooting

Police responded to a house party at 533 N. Johnson St. around 2 a.m. Saturday, March 25.

A second person has been arrested in connection to a shooting at a Macomb house party that killed one person and wounded ten.

Demond E. Wilson Jr., 25, of Calumet Park is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm.

He was taken into custody without incident, according to a release from the Macomb Police Department.

Bond for Wilson was set at $750,000.

Police responded to a house party at 533 N. Johnson St. around 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, after a report of shots fired.

Jerman Beathea, 26, of Chicago was pronounced dead at the scene.

Of the ten others wounded, six were Western Illinois University students.

All are expected to recover.

Police previously arrested Donnell Williams, 25, of Macomb. He is charged with armed violence.

His bond was set at $500,000.

Both remain in custody at the McDonough County jail.

The investigation is ongoing and investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying a witness.
