A Beardstown man is charged with first degree murder after another man was found dead in a vehicle on the southeast side of town.
The Beardstown Police Department responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Clay Street around 7:15 p.m. on Friday, May 31.
They found Steve Dominguez, 27, of Beardstown dead in a vehicle near the residence.
Illinois State Police were called to investigate. The suspect, Jean C. Santiago-Nieves, 37, was still on the scene and taken into custody.
Following the investigation, the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the evidence and charged Santiago-Nieves with first degree murder.
Santiago-Nieves is being held in the Schuyler County jail awaiting a court appearance.
