Community members will have two opportunities this fall to learn how to help someone dealing with mental health or substance use challenges.
Led by Illinois Extension Educator Tessa Hobbs-Curley, the Adult Mental Health First Aid training class teaches participants how to recognize signs of mental health and substance use concerns, offer initial support, reduce stigma, and connect individuals with appropriate community resources.

The first class will be held at the 4-H Center, 3022 W. Jackson, in Macomb, IL, on November 12, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This session is designed with a special focus on the needs of those in the agricultural community, where mental health challenges often go unseen and untreated.

Macomb deadline: October 27

The second class will be held in Galesburg, IL, at the Galesburg Public Library (264 W Main St.) on November 19, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All community members looking for practical skills to support loved ones, coworkers, and neighbors are welcome.

Galesburg deadline: November 3
