Church Basement Ladies: Away In The Basement
Church Basement Ladies: Away In The Basement
The Church Basement Ladies, a popular musical comedy group, will return to The
Legacy Theater in Carthage on Nov. 18 for two performances, at 2 and 7 p.m.
Their all-new presentation, “Away in the Basement,” takes the audience back to 1959
and the day of the Sunday School Christmas program. In the midst of holiday preparations
and sprinklings of love in the air, the ladies in their witty, down-to-earth style are creating new
memories and recalling Christmases from the past.
Caught between doing things the way they always have, yet pondering new ideas, the
reality of everyday life hits home as they plan for the annual Christmas program. With the
children rehearsing in the sanctuary, several ladies in the basement are finishing treats for the
children while the others put final touches on the nativity pieces.
As they mend old bathrobe costumes, discuss the politics of who’s going to play the
various roles, little do the ladies know what surprises are ahead.
Known for their hilarious antics and subtle charm, they are once again called upon to
step in and save the day. “Away In The Basement” is the perfect show for the whole family to
begin the Christmas season.
Tickets for this show are available at The Legacy Theater box office from 10 a.m. to 2
