Earth Day at Walnut Grove Farm

Earth Day at Walnut Grove Farm

Historic Walnut Grove Farm is hosting its first Earth Day, April 20 from
9 to 3, with hands-on learning sessions and fun! Working with others to love the earth and
yourself are the goals for this family time at the farm. Build a bird house, dance, make art,
do yoga, energize your mind, plant seeds, walk to the prairie and do the “trash pick-up
challenge”. The farm is located 1⁄2 mile north of Knoxville, IL. To register for activities
and more info go to walnutgrovefarm.com/earth-day.

Inspired by Native American lessons on gratitude, the presenters for Giving Back to Earth
Day are sharing their skills with registrants to discover what we can do to become better
citizens of the earth, every day. Knox County Community Artisans, Alyssa Pacheco, Sallee
Wade, Kathleen Ridlon, the Galesburg Community Art Center and Walnut Grove Farm are
partnering to present ideas for new life in your life. Sessions have limited space so register
at walnutgrovefarm.com/earth-day or call (309) 289-4770.

Walnut Grove Farm Earth Day will open at 9AM. Gather for gratitude and goodies at 9:30
in the barn. Bring your own mug . At 10 Alyssa Pacheco is guiding yoga in the walnut
grove. Sallee Wade leads a discussion on Active Hope at the guest house. Kathleen Ridlon
will “get your groove on” at 11 with a walk and a dance about the farm.

Bring your own earth-friendly brown bag lunch for a picnic in the grove, and share your
best “Don’t Trash my Mama Earth” tips around Noon. Sharing info at the resource table
is available all day.

At 1PM, afternoon sessions include birdhouse building with the Knox County Community
Artisans in the barn, Women Who Run With The Wolves with Sallee Wade at the guest
house, and Make & Take print-making with Galesburg Community Art Center. Plant and
Take-Home seed starts are available all day. Walk to the prairie at your leisure. Pick up
trash along the roadside to “Fill a Bag for Five”. Walnut Grove Farm will give $5 for every
garbage bag of trash gathered from the roadsides to the “RoboStorm FIRST Lego League
Team” #3620. (Garbage bags, safety vests and gloves will be provided).

Jan King of Walnut Grove Farm says “Every day is Earth Day, so let’s get started. Lots of
fun in store here, so register now!” For a full schedule and presenters’ info, go to
