City-Wide Food Drive Set for June 12, 2026

GALESBURG, IL (May 22, 2026) The City of Galesburg, through its employee volunteer committee,
Galesburg GIVES, will host a city-wide food drive on Friday, June 12, 2026. The event is designed
to unite city employees, residents, local businesses, churches, and civic organizations in a day of
giving, with all donations going directly to FISH of Galesburg, Knox County's community food
pantry.
Summer months put added pressure on local food pantries. FISH of Galesburg, which has served
Knox County since 1970, currently supports more than 900 families and over 2,200 individuals
each month, and more than 17,000 people each year.
There are multiple easy ways for the community to participate in the upcoming "Drive By – Drop
Off – Do Good" Food Drive. Citizens can swing by anytime during the event to drop off non-
perishable food or monetary donations, or they can donate online directly at

Requested donation items include:
• Cereal
• Peanut butter and shelf-stable nut butters
• Jelly
• Granola Bars
• Canned tuna and chicken
• Canned pasta, such as SpaghettiOs and raviolis

Date: Friday, June 12, 2026
Time: 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Location: Galesburg Public Square. A designated drive-by, drop-off lane will be clearly marked on
the northwest quadrant of the square.

Galesburg GIVES is a City of Galesburg staff committee dedicated to coordinating civic
engagement and volunteerism, giving back to the community they serve, and maximizing impact
on the issues that matter most to Galesburg residents.
