Get ready for the lively Latin sound of “Los Chicos del 512: the Selena Experience” at The Legacy Theater in Carthage on Friday, June 2, at 7 p.m. The show is sponsored by Carthage Veterinary Service, Ltd.

This is a the closest one can get to a live Selena concert, since her untimely death in March 1995. It is a time to sing, dance and relive Selena.

Lead singer, Keila Marymar Martinez, and the band came together in 2014 to bring the magic of Selena to old and new fans around the world.

Martinez was born in San Luis, Ariz., and found her music skills early playing with her high school marching band, and singing and playing violin in a Mariachi group.

Like most tribute shows, Martinez and her band are outstanding musicians in their own rights. That they perform music of such a great performer is extra.

Selena’s posthumous album, Dreaming of You, (1995), hit the Billboard 200, marking her as the first Latin artist to accomplish this feat. Selena sold around 18 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling female artists in Latin music.
