The Macomb Feminist Network and the University Professionals of Illinois (UPI) Chapter at Western Illinois University invite the campus community and public to a Reception to Remember and Honor Maurine Magliocco on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Sandburg Lounge of the WIU Student Union. Refreshments will be served.

Magliocco was a member of the WIU Department of English and served as UPI Chapter President. She was a tireless advocate for women, for the union, and for the university. After her retirement from WIU, she and her husband established the Maurine Magliocco Lecture Series in the English Department, which continues to bring speakers in literature, film, theory, and the state of the discipline to campus each year. In the past few years, she was a committed advocate for adequate and equitable funding in Illinois higher education.

The reception will provide an opportunity for informal discussion of Magliocco's accomplishments and her lasting contributions to WIU, to the labor movement, and to feminist advocacy in the region.

All are welcome.
