Mississippi Valley Council's Annual Scouting For Food Drive, 2025.
As Scouts, we recognize how truly fortunate we are to enjoy a warm, nourishing meal each night, whether gathered around the crackling warmth of a campfire or seated at the kitchen table surrounded by family and friends. Sadly, many in our community are not as fortunate and face the challenge of food insecurity.
This understanding led to the creation of Scouting for Food, an annual food collection drive organized by the Mississippi Valley Council Scouting America. This initiative serves as a heartfelt reminder to our communities that Scouts are not just participants in outdoor adventures; we are also compassionate neighbors dedicated to lending a helping hand to those in need.
Scouting for Food takes place over two consecutive weekends in March. On Saturday, March 8th, 2025, Scouts will venture into their neighborhoods, distributing brightly colored door hangers that detail the upcoming food drive and encourage residents to join this important cause. The following weekend, on March 15th, Scouts will return to those homes, ready to collect donations of essential nonperishable items, including canned goods, hearty cereals, pasta, jars of creamy peanut butter, and shelf-stable juices.
All donated food will be compiled and delivered to families facing food scarcity throughout the Tri-State area, helping to ensure that everyone has access to the meals they need to thrive. This collaborative effort embodies our commitment to service and the spirit of community as we work together to make a positive impact on the lives of those around us.
