The semi-annual rummage sale at First Presbyterian Church of Macomb will be held Friday,
April 21 from 9 am to 5 pm and Saturday, April 22 from 9 am to noon at the church, 400 East Carroll
Street. Shoppers will use the Dudley Street entrance to the church basement. An elevator is available.
Beginning Friday, shoppers can fill provided paper bags with items from the great room for $5. The
French/Better Room items will be priced individually. Items too large for paper bags will be priced
individually as well. On Saturday, paper bags will be $1 and $2.

There will be no food or lunch served. For many years, First Presbyterian had a kitchen crew of more
than 10 people serving sloppy joes, sandwiches, cookies and pies. Times have changed and
unfortunately, we don’t have the volunteers needed to provide this service. If any organization would
like to provide this service and keep the profits for themselves, we would welcome them. A food
handling license would be required.

The rummage sale is a long-standing tradition of the church. This is its 89 th year. The project is organized
and run by the church’s Presbyterian Women and area volunteers. The sale offers good quality clothing
and household items at low prices. This is a way to recycle, to fund worthy mission projects, and pay
forward our blessings. According to organizer Rose Elam, remnants from the sale will be given to area
clothing centers and organizations.

First Presbyterian Church shares its building with a variety of businesses and organizations including
CASA and the Prairieland Barbershop chorus. Its organ and piano are used by the American Guild of
Organists and for private lessons. The church hosts one of the community’s Giving Gardens in its south
yard.
