The Carl Historic Site Association is excited to welcome a roster of magnificent talent playing on the Sandburg Songbag Concert Series 2024. This month’s concert will feature Carrie Sue and the Wood Burners!
Hailing from Urbana, IL and residing at the intersection of songwriting, storytelling, and harmonizing - this trio creates a unique blend of folk, bluegrass, country and Americana music. Their sound is a combination of the old and the new. Featuring the timeless art of a well-crafted song, the beauty of melody and harmony, and carefully executed performance, the band combines their individual perspectives and contemporary inspiration to create a sound that is reminiscent yet fresh, and uniquely their own. Honest songs, heartfelt vocals and excellent musicianship mark a unique but familiar sound for this trio.
Carrie Sue and the Wood Burners will be in concert at 2pm on Sunday, May 12. Songbag Concerts are hosted in The Barn at the Carl Sandburg State Historic Site: 313 E. Third Street, Galesburg. The first set starts at 2:00pm, and the second starts at 3:15. Refreshments served between sets. Songbag Concerts are presented by the Carl Sandburg Historic Site Association and Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Additional funding in part by the Mark & Celia Godsil Family Fund, a Donor Advised Fund of the Galesburg Community Foundation. A donation of $5 per person is suggested.
